Domain Registration: Cancellation & Refund Policy

At Atom, we understand that mistakes happen—whether it’s a typo in a new registration or a quick change of heart. We offer a Grace Period for most new domain registrations to help you correct these errors.

The 4-Day Cancellation Window

To be eligible for a registration cancellation and refund, your request must be submitted within 96 hours (4 days) of the initial registration.

Why 96 hours? Global domain registries have a strict 120-hour (5-day) cutoff for all registrations. We require a 24-hour buffer to ensure our team can manually verify your request and process the technical deletion with the registry before the final deadline.

Refund Terms & Fees

If your domain is eligible for a "Grace Period" cancellation, the following terms apply:

  • Administrative Fee: A flat fee per domain is charged per domain cancellation. This covers the non-refundable processing costs incurred from the registry and payment providers.

  • Refund Method: The remaining balance of your registration fee will be credited directly to your Atom Account Funds.

  • Use of Funds: Your Atom credits never expire and can be used immediately for any other domain purchase, service, or marketplace listing on our platform.

Fair Use & Deletion Limits

To ensure the stability of our platform and prevent "domain tasting" (the practice of registering and deleting names in bulk), we apply the following fair-use thresholds:

  • Initial Deletion: We generally allow one domain cancellation per account within the 4-day grace period as a one-time courtesy.

  • The 10% Rule (Per TLD): For subsequent requests, we may allow a cancellation rate of up to 10% of your active portfolio for that specific domain extension.

  • The Requirement: To be eligible to delete one domain, you must maintain at least 10 active domains of that same extension in your Atom Domain Manager.

    • Example: To cancel one .com domain, you must have at least 10 active .com domains in your account.

This calculation is performed independently for each TLD (e.g., .com, .net, .org) to ensure we remain within global industry standards.

How to Request a Cancellation

  1. Check the Clock: Verify that you are still within the 96-hour window from the time of purchase.

  2. Contact Support: Reach out to our CX team via the Intercom chat bubble on your dashboard or via our support email.

  3. Confirm the Fee: Let us know you are comfortable with the administrative fee.

  4. Processing: Once approved, your domain will be deleted, and your account funds will be updated.

Important Limitations

  • Registry Restrictions: Certain domain extensions (specifically ccTLDs like .ai, .io, and .me) do not offer a grace period. These registrations are final and non-refundable from the moment of purchase.

  • Fair Use: To maintain registry compliance, we monitor the volume of cancellation requests. We reserve the right to deny cancellation requests for accounts that exhibit "domain tasting" behavior (excessive registering and deleting).

  • Renewals: This policy applies to new registrations only. It does not apply to domain renewals or transfers.
