Wholesale Marketplace & Portfolio Sales

Buying and Selling Domains for Investment

Atom enables domain sellers to offer their domains at wholesale prices to other domain investors.

How Do Individual Wholesale Listings Work?

  • From your Marketplace Listings Dashboard, you can set a wholesale price for your listings.

  • When a wholesale price is set, the domain becomes visible in a Wholesale Marketplace, accessible only to authorized wholesale buyers (see criteria below).

  • Authorized wholesale buyers can purchase the domain at the wholesale price set by the seller.

  • Once purchased, Atom will:

    • Hold the buyer’s funds in an escrow account

    • Transfer ownership of the listing to the wholesale buyer

  • After the transfer is confirmed, the seller will receive payment according to the applicable commission structure (see below).

  • Domains must remain:

    • Active in the marketplace

    • Owned by the seller

    • Not expired

  • Sellers are responsible for ensuring their domains remain active and do not expire prior to completing a sale.

How Do Bulk Portfolio Listings Work?

  • Sellers can list a collection of domains as a portfolio for sale to other wholesale buyers.

  • You can include any combination of self-owned listings in your portfolio and set a Buy It Now (BIN) price.

  • When a portfolio is purchased, sellers can use Wholesale Order messaging to coordinate the transfer of all domains with the buyer.

  • After all domains have been transferred, the buyer can mark the portfolio as received in their Transfer Center. This will automatically release payment to the seller.

  • Portfolio domains will automatically appear in the buyer’s Atom account:

    • Premium-approved domains will retain their premium status

    • Standard domains will transfer as standard listings

Costs

There are no upfront costs to list individual domains or portfolios for sale. Atom charges a low, fixed commission only upon a successful sale, based on the final selling price.

  • Individual Wholesale Sales: 5% of the selling price

  • Portfolio Sales: 7.5% of the selling price

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become an Authorized Wholesale Buyer?

To qualify as an authorized wholesale buyer, you must have at least 10 approved and live Premium listings in the Atom marketplace.

Please note:

  • Premium listing approval is automated by our system

  • Access is typically granted within 48 hours after your 10th Premium domain is approved

If I purchase a domain in the wholesale section, will ownership be transferred to me?

Yes. Ownership of the domain will be transferred to the buyer.

  • Atom-processed domains: Transfer is handled automatically to your Atom account once the seller provides a valid auth code

  • Manual/unsupported TLDs: Buyer and seller coordinate the transfer via the Wholesale Transfer Center messaging

    • Buyers can choose to:

      • Receive the domain at the same registrar, or

      • Request an auth code for transfer

    • Once the transfer is complete, click “Transfer Complete” in your Atom account to finalize the transaction and release the payment

Important:

Domains purchased through the wholesale marketplace must remain in the Atom Premium Marketplace. Removing domains shortly after purchase may result in loss of wholesale access.

What if the seller refuses to transfer after payment?

All wholesale transactions are binding. Both buyer and seller are expected to proceed with the transfer once payment is made. If both parties agree, the transaction may be cancelled, and the buyer must initiate the cancellation request from their account.

How long does the transfer process usually take?

Transfer times can vary depending on the losing registrar. In some cases, transfers may be completed instantly, while others can take up to 7 days.

Atom facilitates the transfer of domains into the buyer’s account, and buyers can track progress through the Transfer Manager in their Atom account.

What if the domain I purchase is not supported or the TLD is unavailable? Should I pay the renewal fee?

No. If a domain is not supported or the TLD is unavailable, buyers are not required to pay a renewal fee.

Note:

Supported TLDs may vary depending on the wholesale process. For the most up-to-date list, please refer to the Supported TLDs page:

Does a buyer have to hold the domain in their Atom account after purchase?

Yes. The Wholesale Marketplace is intended for buyers who plan to keep and manage their domains within Atom.

Purchased domains must remain in the buyer’s Atom account and are expected to stay active in the Atom Premium Marketplace. This program is not intended for buyers who plan to immediately remove domains after purchase.
